FAQ

What are the HDP-1 and HDP-2 Pressure Gauges used for?

HDP-1 and HDP-2 pressure gauges are designed for water pressure measurement in fire protection systems such as wet sprinkler systems, deluge systems, hydrant systems, and fire pump installations. They provide accurate indication of water pressure and help ensure system reliability and compliance with NFPA standards.

What is the difference between HDP-1 and HDP-2 models?

HDP-1 is a standard dry-type pressure gauge for freshwater service.

HDP-2 is a glycerine-filled pressure gauge with a Monel Bourdon tube, suitable for sea water and corrosive environments. The liquid filling minimizes vibration effects and enhances gauge life.

What pressure ranges are available?

Standard range is 0–300 PSI (0–21 bar), ideal for most fire water systems. Other ranges are available upon request for specific applications.

What is the connection size and mounting type?

Both models feature a ¼” BSPT male connection and bottom mounting for direct installation on valves, pumps, or test lines.

Are the gauges UL or FM approved?

Yes, both HDP-1 and HDP-2 are UL Listed and FM Approved for use in fire protection systems.

Are the gauges suitable for outdoor or marine environments?

Yes. The HDP-2 model is specifically suited for marine and coastal environments due to its corrosion-resistant stainless-steel body and Monel Bourdon tube. It performs reliably even with sea water exposure.

Do the gauges come pre-calibrated?

Yes. All HDP gauges are factory calibrated.

How should the gauges be installed?

Install upright using a compatible thread sealant for water or sea water service. Avoid overtightening or exposure to mechanical vibration beyond rated limits. For vibration-prone areas, HDP-2 (liquid-filled) is recommended.

How often should the gauges be inspected or replaced?

As per NFPA 25 maintenance guidelines: inspect monthly for normal readings and replace every 5 years or earlier if damaged, corroded, or inaccurate.
